Kentucky Trip: Days 4-6

Well since I've been home since Wednesday I guess it's high time I tell you guy about the rest of my trip.

Day 4
We got up and had to go present our project to our judge. My partner and I went over our project a few times since we had not done so since the state competition. Then we headed off to the convention center where we would be presenting. We first had to find the room we would be in and then we had to wait a while before we presented. When we finally got to the judge we presented the best we could. Our judge didn't seem very interested so we figured we weren't getting any further. So after that we went back to the hotel and just hung out in our room for the rest of the afternoon. Then that evening we went to a Lady Antebellum concert which was amazing.
Day 5
Once again we headed to the convention center to go to the mini-awards ceremony. We waited patiently for our category. Sadly (not really) our names were not called. So we went back to the hotel and happily spent the rest of the day in the hotel preparing for our trip home.
Day 6
We got up the next morning and finished preparing for the trip home. Then at 12 o'clock we head down to our hotel's lobby with the other students that would be on the same flight as us. Then at 12:15 we all got on a bus and headed to the airport. Once there we went through security and all that fun stuff. A little while after that we were finally on the plane to Chicago. Then at the Chicago airport we had a two hour layover during which I watched four episodes of Big Bang Theory. Finally we were on the plane home. After an hour long flight we landed and I was so happy to be home.

So there's how my trip to Kentucky went. I had tons of fun but I do wish I would have gotten to go to Churchill Downs to see what it looked like right before the big Derby.

Kentucky Trip: Days 1-3

Day 1:
Not a lot happened I got up at 5 to be at the school at 6:30. Or so I thought at about 5:50 I get a call from my DECA advisor asking where I was at. Turns out I was suppose to be at the school by 6 so my mom took me to meet the bus at a road closer to our house. Then we got to the first airport and went through security. After that we got on a tiny plane and flew to Chicago. At the Chicago airport we all got food. Then an airport worker tried to get us to leave two of the people in our group because there wasn't room on the plane. But our advisor threw a fit so they got to come with us. After getting on the plane I slept until we got to LOUISVILLE!!!!! We then road a shuttle to our hotel. When we got our room keys me and my roomies hung out in our room for the rest of the day.
Day 2:
We got up and went downtown. We planned on going to the Louisville Slugger Museum but we were hungry so we ate first. We ate at T.G.I. Fridays then headed to the museum. We walked for a couple blocks and one of my roommates sort of got hit on by a creepy black bum. Then we finally figured out we were going the wrong way. So we turned around and went the way we were suppose to. By the time we got to the museum it was time for us to head back to the bus. So we headed back and got on a bus to our hotel. When we got to the hotel we hung out for a while then got ready for opening session. Before opening session we went to our state meeting and got some awesome free light up glasses. Then at 8:30 opening session finally started. I thought it was never going to end, it was so boring. Near the end there was a fashion show of new styles teenagers designed it was really cool. Finally we were dismissed, but then we had to wait forever for a shuttle to take us to our hotel. I got seperated from my roommates and I had forgot my room key so I had to wait an extra 30 minutes for them to get there. I felt like a total loser. Once they came we all got into some more comfortable clothes. Then we put our project boards together and went to bed.
Day 3:
So today we had to turn our projects into our judges. We went to the expo center and turned them in. Then we got on a bus and went back to our hotel. After changing we waited for a bus so we could bus hop to downtown since there was nothing headed straight there today. We missed like 3 buses before we finally got on one. Then when we got downtown we headed straight to the Slugger Museum as we were walking it started to rain. At the museum we just went to the gift shop and bought some souvenirs. After we ate at Subway and went back to the hotel. Finally at like 8:45 we went to Dairy Queen and got some dinner. Now we're all hanging out in the room doing homework. So I guess I better get back to mine or I may just go to bed.

Kentucky Trip: The Night Before

Okay I know it has been like 8 months since I posted but I been kinda busy with school and other activities. Anyways, this year I join our school's DECA club (Distributive Education Clubs of America). In this club you do a project then present it to judges and there are 3 different levels: districts, state, and nationals. So me and two guys in the class decided we would do a project just for fun thinking we wouldn't get very far. We ended up making it past districts and on to state. At state one of the guys on my team got sick so he couldn't do the project. I had meltdown when I found out because I was nervous enough already. I just wanted to quit right then and there, but my teacher wouldn't let me. After I calmed down my partner and I decided we would just have to wing it. At that point we didn't care if we made it to Nationals or not, we just wanted it over with. We reorganized our presentation and then presented it to our judge. My partner and I both felt we did really good for not having our other partner with us. We still didn't think we were going to Nationals, though. The next day we went to the awards ceremony. When they got to our category the called up the top 8 and to our surprise we were in it. Now only the top 4 get to go to Nationals. We wait for everyone to get to the stage, then they named the top 4 and we were in it! We so excited, well sorta, I wasn't really that big on going to Nationals. See it is the same time as our school's baseball tournament and I keep the book for all the games so I didn't want to miss it. But after tons of thinking and my partner talking about how fun it would be I said I would go.
So that's the story behind this post because tomorrow I leave for Louisville, Kentucky at 8:05 in the morning. I am both nervous and excited. I'll be there for 5 days and will be posting every day that I can.
